Shifting prevention roles draws mixed reaction
Bill 160, which amended the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, received Royal Assent on June 1, 2011, shifting the responsibility of prevention from the Workplace Safety Insurance Board to the Ministry of Labour. The MOL's new prevention role has caused some controversy, with stakeholders raising arguments both in favour and against the shift in responsibility. Learn more.
