Nestlé plants earn CBWA Excellence in Manufacturing standing

Mar. 13, 2015 – The bottling facilities of Nestlé Waters Canada, a beverage manufacturer and distributor, have achieved Excellence in Manufacturing standing from the Canadian Bottled Water Association (CBWA).

The bottling facilities are located in Hope, B.C., and Puslinch, Ont.

“On behalf of CBWA, I want to congratulate the Nestlé Waters Canada team on, once again, achieving this very high manufacturing standard at both of its bottling plants in Canada,” said Elizabeth Griswold, executive director of CBWA. “Our members produce the highest quality bottled water in the world and Nestlé Waters Canada typifies what consumers can expect when they purchase bottled water produced in Canada that conforms with the CBWA Model Code.”

CBWA membership dictates that the company must pass an annual, unannounced plant inspection which is administered by an independent, internationally-recognized organization. According to the association, this inspection audits quality and testing records, reviews all areas of plant operation from source through finished product and checks adherence to the CBWA Model Code and its code of ethics. The ode of ethics adheres to a “philosophy of sustainable development, environmental protection and collaboration with local communities in the management of the water resource.”

As well, bottlers must pass an annual water analysis administered by an independent government-certified laboratory and regularly conduct microbial testing by qualified personnel.

“This achievement confirms that we produce bottled water at a very high quality level, which should give our customers added confidence when purchasing our products,” said Greg Chorpitta, plant manager, Guelph, Nestlé Waters Canada. “Last year was yet another very active year in our journey along the Nestlé Continuous Improvement path. This recognition is just one more example of the positive progress we are making in our organization.”
