EXTENDED DEADLINE: Have your say in the 2014 Canadian Manufacturing Study

Manufacturing AUTOMATION and the Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium (EMC) have extended the deadline for the 9th annual Canadian Manufacturing Study survey until Friday, August 22. The results, to be published in Manufacturing AUTOMATION’s October 2014 issue, will provide detailed insights into the manufacturing strategies, methods and technologies in use in Canada, and give readers the opportunity to compare their facility to others across Canada.
“This is a very important survey, as it gives us insights into the state of the manufacturing industry, as well as trends, from those who are actually in the Canadian manufacturing industry,” says Mary Del Ciancio, editor of Manufacturing AUTOMATION magazine. “Last year’s results reflected optimism on the part of Canada’s manufacturers. With the economy continuing to improve — slowly but surely — it will be interesting to see how manufacturers are doing in 2014, and if that optimism remains.”
Like every year, the study will include a year-to-year comparison of trends dating back to 2006.
“A key reason EMC is involved with this study,” says Al Diggins, president and general manager of EMC and chairman/CEO of Canadian Manufacturing Network, “is the information is critical in helping us identify manufacturing needs and trends, which help us develop new programs, resources and services for industry. When we look at the data that comes from this study,” he adds, ”that sort of feedback resonates with our members and allows us to target very specific program development to benefit Canadian manufacturing.”
EMC credits information gathered from this study with helping them develop ongoing manufacturing initiatives, including benchmarking for EMC’s national network, their energy buying group, purchasing co-operative, safety group, SR&ED initiatives and much of their training and development.
“The more readers who respond, the better the results, and the more accurate the depiction of the Canadian manufacturing industry,” Del Ciancio says. “I encourage you to take the survey, and have your say in the status of industry today.”
