Ranpro Inc., a Canadian manufacturer of extreme condition protective apparel, recently celebrated three years with no lost-time accidents at its Simcoe, Ont.-based manufacturing plant.

The company, which employs 80 people at this location, says this milestone was made possible by a dedicated joint Health and Safety Committee comprised of Ranpro employee volunteers.

Ranpro began their journey towards the safest possible work environment by becoming a member of the WSIB Safety Group through the Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium, which defines a lost time accident as one in which an employee is injured at work in a manner which results in necessary recuperation time away from work.

“We are very proud of this achievement, as it comes as a result of the commitment and a lot of hard work from our Health & Safety Committee,” says Ranpro plant manager, John Evans.

The sentiment is echoed by Ranpro’s vice-president of operations, Bob Richardson. “Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and I think our staff has shown just how possible it is to operate both efficiently and safely.”

Ranpro reached its third year without a lost time accident on August 15, 2010. Staff celebrated their achievement with a company-wide recognition ceremony and luncheon on September 23. 2010.
