Jan. 19, 2015 – The “extremely compact and powerful” Schunk EGL servo gripper promises flexible control of gripping force, speed and position, making it well suited for assembly, testing, pharmaceutical and laboratory applications.

The EGL has on-board power and control electronics so no other external devices are needed to operate the gripper. It is powered by 24 VDC and can communicate by Profibus-DP or CAN-bus. There is an electric brake which allows for position maintenance and a pseudo absolute encoder function. The unit generates up to 600 N of grip force, which combined with a stroke of 49 mm per jaw, allows it to grip work pieces weighing 3 kg.
