Aug. 25, 2015 – Schunk says its EGN safety gripping system is certified for use in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13849 specifications for use with human and robot interaction.

If the production process is interrupted by an emergency shut-off, the EGN goes into either a safety speed mode or a safe stop mode, depending on the activated protection zone. The system is continuously powered even if in a safety stop and will hold the gripped part. As soon as the protection zone is released, the gripper switches back to the regular operating mode without having to be re-started. The gripping force, speed, and finger position can be controlled during the handling process.
