Windsor, Ont. – The Canadian Auto Workers union has reached master agreements with both Chrysler and General Motors.
"This really is a win-win situation in difficult times," Hargrove told
a press conference in Toronto. "It was tough bargaining for me. It’s
been an incredible ride as this is my last set of negotiations as
leader of the union. I’ve reached my mandatory retirement age under our
constitution."
Both Chrysler and GM agreed to match the wages and benefits in the
three-year contract agreed to by Ford of Canada in earlier bargaining
with the CAW. Hargrove did not disclose specific details of the plans,
particularly the closure agreement for WindsorÃs GM workers.
