
MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc. says that its solar panel subsidiary SunEdison and partner Flextronics will create 400 jobs in Newmarket, Ont., to ramp up production.
The announcement was made Monday during a dedication ceremony of a new line at the Toronto-area Flextronics plant.
The plant produces MEMC photovoltaic solar modules that will be used by SunEdison and partners for solar projects.
Ontario Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sandra Pupatello attended the event and praised the companies for creating local jobs and helping to build a renewable energy industry in the province.

SunEdison’s Toronto office has grown from two full-time employees in November 2009 to more than 50 today.
