Linear servomotor

Nippon Pulse America’s smallest linear servomotor, the four-mm linear shaft motor, has a four-mm shaft diameter, a small forcer size (10 mm by 10 mm), a total weight of nine grams, and strokes as long as 40 mm, making it a suitable replacement in piezo-type applications, the company says. The motor is quiet due to the absence of friction since the only mechanical contact section is the linear guide, explains the company, adding that the coreless construction of the linear shaft motor eliminates cogging. High motor stiffness allows the servomotor to be used in high precision positioning applications where a resolution of 0.09 nanometres is achievable.
