Schneider Electric’s M340 PAC features a new module with embedded RTU features – such as an embedded DNP3 communications protocol and battery-free, extended temperature range operation. According to the company, the module is ideally suited to applications in mining, oil and gas, water treatment and substation automation. Embedded communications protocols, such as DNP3 and IEC60870-5-101/104, eliminate third-party bridges for compliance to industry standards. Functionality includes time synchronization, balanced/unbalanced transmission mode, polled interrogations, report by exception, unsolicited messaging, events queue management, automatic events backfill to SCADA/Master, and predefined command management. Specialized function blocks include conformance to AGA 3-7, 8, 9-5 and 11 flow calculations. A full range of CPU and I/O modules are available in an extended temperature range (-25 degrees C to 70 degrees C) with coatings designed for harsh environments.
