
Average payroll earnings higher in March: StatsCan

Statistics Canada says average weekly earnings of non-farm payroll employees were $915 in March, up 0.7 per cent from the previous month.
On a year-over-year basis, earnings increased 3.1 per cent.
Year-over-year growth in average weekly earnings outpaced the national average in six of the largest industrial sectors, including educational services where they rose 4.3 per cent to $995 and professional, scientific and technical services, where earnings grew 4.0 per cent to $1,284.
Weekly earnings in retail trade edged down 0.3 per cent to $524 on an annual basis.
Year-over-year earnings growth of non-farm payroll employees was above the national average in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Ontario was at the national average, while growth was below average in the other provinces.
