High-precision positioning stage

Steinmeyer Inc. has added to its line of precision linear stages the PMT320, which offers a repeatability of +/- 1 micron and travel distances from 600 to 1,500 mm. The stage has a 320-mm-wide die cast base profile and the 1,000-mm-stroke stage weighs 70 kg.
The PMT320 series offers two drive options, a servo linear motor or DC rotary motor with precision ground ball screw. Position feedback is provided by a linear encoder. Depending on the drive chosen, maximum acceleration of 5 m/s2 and maximum speed of 500 mm/s” can be achieved. Linear guidance is provided by size 25 precision linear profile rails, which gives the PMT320 a load capacity of 500 kg. Flatness and straightness run-out is +/- 2 microns over any 100 mm travel.
For harsh environments, an optional steel cover is available to protect the components. This stage is ideal for applications in laser technology (laser cutting), automation, metrology and solar technology (e.g. thin film) markets.
