SYSMAC CJ Series position control unitsOmron Corp. has released its new SYSMAC CJ Series position control units and OMNUC G5 Series servo drivers, both with speed/functionality improvements and EtherCAT communication capabilities.

Being a real-time Ethernet-based, open network, EtherCAT is attracting increased interest in Japan, with its operating principle and architecture allowing co-existence of ultra-speed and simultaneous control.

As for high speed initiation of positioning control, maximum speed of within 0.15 millisecond to 0.4 millisecond is achieved with the configuration consisting of Omron’s CJ2 programmable controller, new EtherCAT-enabled position control unit, and new servo driver with EtherCAT Slave capability.

Supporting functions for these new products, including of design and maintenance, are integrated into Omron’s CX-Programmer Support Tool for PLC and otherwise cumbersome network settings are automated.  Servo drivers connected to the network are automatically recognized and setup is automatically completed.  Additionally, servo driver parameter settings and monitoring are unified by the single tool.
