Software enhancements accelerate product design

The latest release of Siemens’ Solid Edge software (Solid Edge ST7) includes new functionality designed to significantly accelerate the product design process. Enhancements to 3D modelling and image rendering enable certain tasks to be performed up to five times faster than the previous version, the company says, adding that additional productivity and efficiency are achieved through enhancements in design management and the Solid Edge user interface. New, built-in, world-class rendering capabilities in Solid Edge ST7, provided by Luxion’s KeyShot technology, create photorealistic images and animations from within the modelling environment. These new capabilities provide significant improvement in overall image quality and speed real-time photorealistic rendering of native 3D models by up to five times, based on internal testing, according to the company. In addition, new 3D Sketch functionality in Solid Edge ST7 improves efficiency with various modelling scenarios, allowing designers to complete their design processes up to two times faster with greater flexibility. Significant user interface enhancements provide Solid Edge ST7 with the most intuitive operating environment to date. A new start page, focused learning paths, and expanded visual tool tips simplify the learning curve for new users and increase efficiency for expert users.
