“Hear” problems with Spectronics Marksman II diagnostic tool

Dec. 5, 2014 – Spectronics describes its MDE-2000NC Marksman II as an ultrasonic diagnostic tool that converts and amplifies inaudible ultrasonic sound into audible “natural” sound.

With the tool, Spectronics says technicians can “hear” even the smallest compressed air, natural gas, propane tank, vacuum, steam, and other pressurized leaks before they lead to major breakdowns. The receiver converts inaudible ultrasonic sound into audible sound using heterodyne circuitry, then the Sound Signature Technology fine-tunes the audible sound into the natural sound emitted by the leak itself. A five-LED signal intensity indicator and audible alarm pinpoints the source of the problem. The Marksman II comes with an ultrasonic receiver, noise-cancelling headphones, a hollow air probe, a solid contact probe and an ultrasonic emitter.
