Dec. 10, 2014 – Belden — a provider of signal transmission solutions for mission-critical applications — is set to acquire Tripwire — a provider of advanced threat, security and compliance solutions — for $710 million. Together, they will work to deliver the next generation of cybersecurity solutions that can be deployed across industrial, enterprise and broadcast markets, they say.

“As a leading supplier of signal transmission solutions for mission-critical networking applications, this acquisition is an important and natural extension of Belden’s capabilities,” said John Stroup, Belden president and CEO.

The move also helps existing customers who are “anxious to improve the robustness and security of their networks,” he added.

“Belden believes in our strategic vision and have endorsed our plans for 2015. In fact, they’ve increased our R&D resources so we can deliver new product innovations to the market more quickly. They will also provide us with immediate access their core markets that require very specialized solutions,” said Jim Johnson, Tripwire president and CEO, in a statement to Manufacturing AUTOMATION.

This transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015.

Earlier this year, Belden and Tripwire announced a joint initiative to improve critical infrastructure cybersecurity in manufacturing organizations. The partnership provided cybersecurity solutions tailored to specific customer requirements.
