Mar. 27, 2015 – Sofina Foods, a Canadian manufacturer of food products, intends to transition a recently-acquired pork processing facility into a turkey processing operation.

According to the company, the Mitchell, Ont.-based facility strengthens Sofina’s manufacturing capabilities and establishes Sofina as a “significant poultry processor in the Ontario marketplace.”

“The addition of the Mitchell facility is evolutionary to our current operations in Dublin, Ontario,” said Jeff McDowell, vice-president, Poultry Value Chain for Sofina Foods. “The Mitchell facility provides Sofina Foods with the ability to provide fresh turkey to our further processing operations in London and Brampton, confirms our commitment to the Ontario turkey industry, and Ontario turkey farmers. This is the largest single investment in the Canadian turkey industry in over 25 years.”

The commissioning is expected to take place late 2015.
