Dec. 4, 2015 – Machine designers can incorporate Festo’s ELGA-TB-G electric toothed belt axis with plain-bearing guide into their project as a complete, run-ready sub-system, says the company.

The “powerful and highly dynamic” ELGA-TB-G is suitable for applications involving simple positioning and handling tasks where loads need to be fed externally — in other words, wherever a basic plain-bearing guide with a rigid profile will do the trick. According to Festo, in almost any application where work pieces are guided externally, using the ELGA-TB-G is more cost-effective than employing an electric axis with recirculating ball bearing guide. The unit has a flexible motor attachment and claims to be compatible with all common stepper and servo motors. The motor can be mounted on any of four sides and its position can be changed at any time. It comes in three sizes and offers a maximum working stroke of 8,500 mm.
