Stratasys names winners of 2016 Extreme Redesign 3D Printing Challenge

May 2, 2016 – Congratulations to the three Canadian winners of Stratasys’ 12th annual Extreme Redesign 3D Printing Challenge, a worldwide contest that asks students to redesign an existing product, create a new product that improves how a task is accomplished or design an original work of art or architecture.

Entries were evaluated based on creativity, being mechanically sound and being realistically achievable. This year‘s winners were announced April 28.

The winning Canadian entries include:

Engineering: Secondary education
• First place: Modular Hexagonal Extension, Li Cheng Yu; Etobicoke Collegiate Institute, Toronto, Ont.

Engineering: Post-secondary education
• First place: HyperShot, Aris Peci & Remi Carreiro; Ryerson University, Toronto, Ont.

• Second place: sketcHold, Alborz Razavitousi & Arman Ghafouri-Azar; Ryerson University; Toronto, Ont.

Stratasys will award first place winners a $2,500 scholarship, with second place winners receiving a $1,000 scholarship. The instructor of the first-place winner in each category will receive a demo 3D printer to use in the classroom for a limited time.
