Fluke Electronics Canada includes the Fluke 1507 and 1503 insulation testers in its line of test instruments. The single-purpose digital units deliver multiple test voltages. It”has automatic, one-button calculation of polarization index and dielectric absorption ratio, and also has a compare (pass/fail) function designed to ease repetitive testing. Both include a remote test probe that enables one-handed insulation testing via a button on the probe handle. The 1507 provides insulation resistance testing up to 10 gigohms, with five output voltages ranging from 50 to 1,000 volts, while the 1503 tests up to two gigohms of resistance with either 500 or 1,000 volts.

The testers are designed for added user protection with a 600-volt Cat IV overvoltage rating, and are engineered to withstand voltage spikes of eight kilovolts. In addition, insulation testing is disabled if the testers are connected to a live circuit with more than 30 volts. The testers automatically discharge all capacitive voltage from the equipment after testing to help prevent accidental shocks.
