Aug. 24, 2016 – ABB Robotics describes the IRB 1660ID as its latest compact robot for arc welding and machine tending applications.
Calling it the “most versatile robot in the mid-size class,” ABB says the IRB 1660ID’s Integrated DressPack design makes it “easier to program and simulate predictable cable movements than standard robots with externally routed cables,” and promises a 50-per-cent decrease of maintenance costs. The upper arm of the robot offers a 1.55-m reach and a 6-kg payload, and boasts improved wire feeding control near the arc to “guarantee high volume production.” According to the company, the robot will allow customers to increase productivity and quality, with reduced cycle times.
