Cypress offers CYAT8165X TrueTouch controllers

May 7, 2017 – Cypress Semiconductor has expanded its automotive solutions portfolio with a capacitive touchscreen controller that boasts best-in-class waterproofing, glove touch and resistance to electromagnetic interference.

The new Automotive TrueTouch CYAT8165X controllers, which target screens up to 8.5 inches, join a portfolio that includes Cypress’ Automotive TrueTouch CYAT8168X controllers, for screens up to 15 inches. According to the company, the CYAT8165X controller family is suitable for fingers of different sizes and gloves of various materials and thicknesses, including ski gloves, and automatically switches between glove and finger tracking without requiring the drivers to switch settings. The controllers include up to 48 I/Os with a host processor interface through I2C or SPI, which promise to boost touchscreen responsiveness. The family also boasts the industry’s best water rejection and wet finger tracking for seamless performance in real-world conditions, including the presence of water droplets, condensation or sweat. The controllers are available in automotive-friendly 100-pin TQFP packages.
