Oct. 9, 2017 – Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB), a manufacturer and distributor of mattresses, has opened a new manufacturing plant, relocating from a former site in Houston.
According to the company, the new plant will allow for more operational capacity and is part of SSB’s plan to expand its manufacturing footprint and support increased consumer demand.
The plant, which is four times the size of the previous Houston facility, employs approximately 100 people and produces more than 1,000 mattresses per day.
“SSB’s new Houston plant is an important part of our strategy to increase manufacturing capacity,” said Michael Traub, CEO of Serta Simmons Bedding. “By introducing new technology, adding headcount where necessary and expanding certain facilities, SSB intends to position itself to meet increased demand from customers across North America.”
In addition to Houston, SSB plans to open new plants in Seattle; Moreno Valley, California; and Windsor Locks, Connecticut.
