Oct. 11, 2017 – Suhner has released the ROBOTsander, an adaptive surface treatment solution used in the automotive, aerospace, appliance, off-highway and outdoor power equipment market.

Operations that benefit from the ROBOTsander are material protection, surface brightening, paint preparations and CFRP activation, says Suhner, adding that applications include grinding, brightening, polishing, deburring and sanding. The company says the ROBOTsander’s design can significantly reduce cycle time and use of abrasive materials. Responding to the digital factory trend, each process in itself, as well as complete robot cell functionality, can be analyzed by Suhner engineers and manufacturing specialists, allowing optimization to be performed in advance of the initial delivery, says the company. The combined use of Industry 4.0 objectives with the Suhner Digital Factory Monitoring System, allows the customer to monitor the sander’s performance. According to the company, the ROBOTsander turns any robot into a collaborative robot, and provides data recording, process diagnosis and optimization, predictive maintenance and remote product support, as well as spare parts and user time management.
