Jan. 15, 2018 – Wieland Electric has added models UMS 5-W, UMS 8 and LMS 16-W to its wienet series of Ethernet switches.

According to the company, the switches have robust DIN-rail mountable metal housing, redundant power supply inputs with fault relay contacts for reliability, and feature a -40 to 75 degrees C temperature range. The UMS 5-W unit offers a 30-mm width and according to the company is one of Weiland’s more economical options. The wienet S 8-4 PoE-W switch enables the joint transfer of energy and data as per IEEE 802.3 on one Ethernet line. Up to 15.4 watts can be supplied per PoE port. Meanwhile the wienet LMS 16-W Light Managed Switch (LMS switch) closes the gap between completely unmanaged switches and fully managed switches, describes Wieland. The unit uses Modbus TCP to communicate with SCADA systems, and can be used in plant automation for connecting end devices with the backbone network or another network.
