Absopulse step-down DC-DC regulator promises 98% efficiency

Feb. 16, 2018 – Absopulse has released the BUR 3K-P600, describing it as an encapsulated, industrial grade, step-down DC-DC regulator that delivers up to 3000W output power.

The unit steps a 600VDC (400-800VDC) input down to 300VDC or similar voltage, says the company, adding that the unit delivers 97 to 98 per cent efficiency. Measuring 155 x 68.5 x 270 mm, the unit is suitable for applications that require a stable regulated output voltage from a wide input voltage range and for generating a stable voltage for motor drive units, says Absopulse. The BUR 3K-P600 is encapsulated with a thermally conductive MIL-grade silicon rubber compound which is designed to resist “high levels of shock, vibration and humidity.” Electronic protection includes overload, overvoltage and short circuit protection, and thermal shutdown with automatic reset in case of insufficient cooling. The DC-DC regulator is filtered to meet EN 55022 Class A EMI; Class B is available as an option. It is designed to meet EN/IEC 60950-1 and corresponding industrial standards.
