May 26, 2018 – VFD cable from AutomationDirect is now available in customer specified lengths in one-foot increments. VFD cable is used to organize and protect the input and motor power wiring for variable frequency drives, and is designed using grounding, shielding & insulation to reduce VFD-related interference (EMI) on nearby equipment.
AutomationDirect VFD cables utilize cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) conductor insulation with Class K, flexible stranded tinned annealed copper conductors. XLPE insulation can withstand voltages as much as three times higher than standard PVC/nylon insulation for VFD cables, it explains. VFD cable is available with four-conductors (including ground) in 16 AWG to 2 AWG sizes, and is 1000V rated for use with 460-volt drives.
VFD cable is available in cut-to-length one-foot increments with minimum 10 to 20-foot lengths depending on wire size. AutomationDirect explains that cut-to-length cable eliminates waste and lowers cost (only as much cable as required is purchased). Cable is cut to length at AutomationDirect’s own UL Certified respooling facility.
