June 12, 2019 – Autopro Automation Consultants has established a new scholarship partnership with the Fort McMurray Public School Division.

The annual scholarship has been developed to recognize and support the next generation as they embark on planned post-secondary studies in either robotics, instrumentation, automation or a program with an engineering focus.

The scholarship will be awarded based on criteria developed by Autopro, which includes an overall grade percentage of 75 or above, demonstrated involvement in the local community, and an ongoing interest in the areas of robotics, automation, instrumentation, or engineering.

The 2019 recipient has been selected but not yet announced.

“Autopro has a long history of supporting post-secondary institutes in Western Canada through scholarships, co-op and summer terms for students, and mentorship provided by our staff,” says Laurie Watters, vice-president corporate services. “Over the last six years, we have also partnered with the Fort McMurray Public School Division to sponsor robotics programs in their schools and have seen firsthand the dedication and skill of the students in those programs. We are proud to offer continued support to high school students in the Fort McMurray area who have chosen to pursue a career in an engineering-related field.”

Autopro currently offers scholarships at the post-secondary level to students attending the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, University of Calgary, and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. This is the first scholarship program offered by Autopro at the high school level.
