June 20, 2019 – Lopes Ltd., a steel manufacturer in Coniston, Ontario near Sudbury, is receiving $1 million in funding from the government of Ontario for new equipment, updated facilities and new jobs.

Lopes Ltd. is an advanced manufacturing company with a variety of services, including electrical installation and construction. It has worked on large, complex projects such as the International Rail Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie.

The new equipment will be used to process steel plate in-house. A 12,000 square-foot expansion to Lopes’s current building is also in the works. This will help create 20 new full-time jobs.

Premier Doug Ford made the announcement at the company’s plant on June 19.
