Burlington, Ont.-based Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. has been named one of the top employers for 2010 in the Hamilton-Niagara region. The annual competition, organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, is now entering its fourth year and recognizes employers that lead their industry as exceptional places to work.

Employers are evaluated on rigorous criteria including physical workplace; work and social atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development and community involvement. Endress+Hauser excelled in each of these categories.

"We strive to provide employees with benefits and a working atmosphere that’s above industry standards," said Richard Lewandowski, General Manager of Endress+Hauser Canada. "We’re always looking for ways to improve the workplace quality of life and to encourage innovation, frankness, fairness and a sense of entrepreneurship. We are honoured to have been given this award."

The company offers a range of financial benefits to its employees including referral bonuses and profit-sharing plans, and is also a great advocate of employee development and continuous learning. It has also establshed partnerships with educational instuitutions that prepare the next generation of engineers and automation experts. One of the beneficiaries is the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Endress+Hauser provides all the equipment necessary to house a "Measurement Technology Laboratory" at BCIT and actively supports professors’ curriculum with relevant learning materials and industrial measurement technology. Endress+Hauser also supports new graduates with hiring programs set in place at BCIT, Lambton College and Mohawk College.

"Maintaining state-of-the-art measurement instrumentation and technologies is usually impossible for colleges due to prohibitive costs and rapid development," said Lewandowski. "Our support ensures students learn on the latest instruments with the up-to-date technologies. The benefits are tremendous."
