Manufacturing sales drop 1.4% in November 2014

Statistics Canada says manufacturing sales fell 1.4 per cent in November to $51.5 billion, the third drop in four months. The result compared with a drop of 0.7 per cent that economists had expected according to Thomson Reuters. >> Read full article

Chrysler invests $2B in Windsor plant retooling, next minivan

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will spend $2 billion to retool Ontario’s Windsor Assembly Plant during its planned three-month upgrade and expansion scheduled to begin next month, announced CEO Sergio Marchionne at the North American International Auto Show last week, where he also confirmed a next-generation minivan will be built at the plant. Ontario’s first additive manufacturing resource centre now open

Mohawk College officially opened its Additive Manufacturing Resource Centre last Friday, the first of its kind in Ontario to serve as a test lab for advanced manufacturers and a living lab for students, it says. Last summer, Manufacturing AUTOMATION got an exclusive sneak peak inside the facility, as Tony Thoma, dean of the engineering technology program, told us how the centre will benefit both industry players and students.
