Ideal Drain Tile pleaded guilty and was fined $110,000 in the death of a worker who was working alone and received a fatal electrical shock. The ministry’s investigation found that the worker had been provided generic lockout training but had not been trained on how to specifically lock out the machine being worked on.

Axalta Coating Systems, a global manufacturer of liquid and powder coatings, celebrated 60 years of production at its Ajax, Ont., facility. Employees gathered at the local Hilton Garden Inn to celebrate both Axalta’s 60th year of operations in Ajax and its 150th business anniversary. The company’s history in Canada dates back to 1956 when the Ajax manufacturing plant opened its doors. In 2000, it was identified as a corporate development and manufacturing flagship for the “paint on plastics” that is used with many automotive components.
