October 2, 2018 – Bosch Connected Industry, an operating unit that combines software and services for Industry 4.0 under the name Nexeed, has announced a new partnership with management consulting firm Bain & Company to bring their collective Industry 4.0 technology and management expertise to companies seeking to maximize the benefits of digital within their operations.
According to Bain & Company, a systematic approach based on a solid assessment of the company’s starting point and individual opportunities is essential. The company says that often, when companies embark on a digital transformation, they focus on business model changes while ignoring or underestimating the value of digitalization in operations, where the real short- and mid-term potential of digital transformation lies. Digitalization of operations constitutes an important source of internal financing and, if done correctly, can deliver a 15-20 per cent increase in efficiency.
“Industrial companies are under growing pressure to maximize the efficiency and flexibility of manufacturing plants across all functions – from production to indirect and support processes,” says Jörg Gnamm, industry partner in Bain & Company’s Munich office. “However, most of these companies find it difficult to unlock the full potential of their digital transformation, due in large part to the lack of a structured approach that results in uncoordinated and isolated pockets of digitalization efforts.”
Together, Bain & Company and Bosch Connected Industry will offer companies a more systematic and state-of-the-art approach to holistic digitalization across their operations – from innovation to process optimization and implementation support for technology solutions – to better identify areas of untapped value. As part of the partnership, companies have compiled more than 150 use cases for digitalization.
Bain & Company embeds digital capabilities into all of its industry and functional practice areas, and augments its core consulting services with its in-house advanced digital and product team, which includes experts in human-centered design, prototyping, software engineering, digital marketing and advanced analytics.
