Emerson unveiled a new industrial edge and analytics solution at a Feb. 3 preview for Hannover Messe, which takes place online this year from Apr. 16 to 21.

With digital transformation integral to profitability, competitiveness and improved operational performance, manufacturers require solutions that will provide actionable insights, the company said.

No matter their size, manufacturers can install edge devices — or local industrial PCs – at their machines to start collecting data.

Emerson’s solution is an integrated edge platform called PACEdge 2.0, which turns the data that’s collected at the machine into insights that manufacturers can act on.

PACEdge IIoT software provides developers with a secure platform for creating, deploying and scaling applications, ensuring a single source of truth across information technology, operational technology and enterprise-level data, so any end user can derive valuable insights.

This software is used with PACSystems RXi2 edge computers, a scalable, rugged computing display designed for the industrial world. The displays include high-performance analytics and graphics with maximum flexibility for a wide range of applications.

The PACSystems RX3i CPL410 edge controller provides edge control technology, combining real-time, deterministic control with advanced, Linux-based applications in a single device, providing a foundation for industrial IOT. The RX3i uses the PACSystems control engine and programming environment to provide application portability across all of Emerson’s PLC hardware platforms.

These solutions can be combined with the company’s line of sensors and pneumatics, as well as I/O technology solutions that offer connectivity between control, valve systems and sensors. From there, companies can gain advanced analytics such as pressure monitoring, position feedback, motor vibration, cylinder speed, energy usage, lifecycle management, production traceability and failure detection.

Emerson’s portfolio includes hardware and software solutions for a wide range of pneumatic applications, fluid control, motion control, machine performance and other edge applications.
