Dec. 23, 2016 – Morgan Corp., a North American manufacturer of medium-duty truck bodies, is planning to further expand its manufacturing footprint into New England.

A site search is currently underway to select a location capable of supporting the production of up to 3,000 truck bodies annually with plans to open and become operational by the end of 2017. The facility will encompass an estimated 150,000 square feet and Morgan said it expects to employ about 140 team members.

“Even though we already support the northeast market with three plants in Morgantown, Ephrata, and Denver, Penn., the continued rapid expansion of our business due to new product launches and market share gains has led us to decide that we must expand capacity to meet the growing needs and demands of our current and future customers,” said Norb Markert, president and COO. “With a total of 12 current facilities in the U.S. and Canada, and in addition to our earlier announcement to add a plant in the Midwest, the New England site will grow our footprint to 14 facilities. Morgan’s proximity to our customers is an important part of improving customer service. Our decision to operate a plant in New England will enable Morgan to better serve customers in this large and important market.”

In Canada, Morgan operates a manufacturing plant in Brampton, Ont. The company specializes in the manufacture of Class 3 to Class 7 (GVW) box truck/straight truck bodies to serve the dry freight and refrigerated industries, producing truck bodies to accommodate cargo of a wide range of configuration — from parcel delivery to furniture movers and heavy-equipment hauling, insulated and refrigerated units, bottled gas transport, and flatbed/stake and platform bodies.
