APMA appoints new president

Sept. 12, 2014 – The Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association (APMA) has named Flavio Volpe as its new president.

Volpe brings with him a wealth of international and transnational private sector development experience and high-level, industry-specific, public sector experience with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure, and Industry Canada. His experience pursuing and negotiating OEM investments in Ontario brings an exciting new perspective to the APMA, the association said.

“I look forward to championing the globally tested and innovative competitiveness of the Canadian automotive supply chain,” said Volpe. “The APMA will be a strong voice at the table, working with our private and public partners to build on our industry’s 100-year legacy in Canada.”

“Our industry continues to face significant challenges in an increasingly competitive global market,” said Keith Henry, chairman, APMA. “We expect that our new president will take a strong role as a lead advocate for our industry, and we look forward to this new chapter at the APMA.”

Volpe, a graduate of the Schulich School of Business MBA program, takes over from Steve Rodgers who successfully advocated for the competitiveness of the Canadian supply chain as the global industry emerged from the economic downturn of the last five years.
