Rittal North America announces new managing director

February 11, 2019 – Rittal North America, manufacturer of industrial enclosures, has announced Mike Freund as its new managing director.

In his new role, Freund will lead an executive team responsible for the growth of the business as well as the company’s operations, manufacturing, sales and administrative functions.

Prior to joining Rittal, Freund was director of technical sales, support and training at Schneider Electric. He held various leadership roles across several departments and locations at Schneider, where he worked for more than 30 years. He started his career as a general salesperson in his hometown of Pittsburgh for Square D Company, which was later bought by Schneider.

“Mike brings a wealth of experience to his new role; we are pleased to welcome him to the team,” says Koen Wolfcarius, executive vice-president for Rittal North and South America. “We’re confident that his expertise will help grow Rittal’s business in the United States.”

Across his many roles, Freund has been responsible for starting new business initiatives, overseeing operational success, and growing business with his in-depth experience within the industrial equipment market including controls and automation.

Freund earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and is a certified energy manager through the Association of Energy Engineers. He lives in the greater Chicago area with his wife and they have two grown children.
