Jay-Lor International inducted into Canadian Manufacturing Hall of Fame

Jay-Lor International’s commitment to global citizenship following last year’s devastating earthquake in Haiti has earned the Orton, Ont.-based manufacturer of agricultural and industrial mixers a position in the Canadian Manufacturing Hall of Fame.

Jay-Lor was honoured by Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) with the Essence of Philanthropy award, which recognizes an outstanding Canadian business for its long-term dedication to serving their regional, provincial, national or global community. The award is sponsored by Great West Life, London Life and Canada Life.

“Manufacturing is about more than just a product – it’s about the people behind a product,” explained CME president and CEO Jayson Myers. “The management and staff at Jay-Lor are not only innovative on the shop floor, but they set the standard of excellence for going above and beyond and reaching out to those in need.”

Following the January 2010 quake, Jay-Lor led a monumental crisis response effort, working alongside non-profit organizations to ship five containers packed with more than $500,000 – or 11,000-cubic-feet – of medical equipment, construction tools, shelter, clothing and power generators to the Haitian people.

Jay-Lor is also active with the local chapter of the 4-H Club, as well as other youth farming programs, and has led poverty alleviation projects in the Ukraine.

“Jay-Lor represents what it truly means to be Canadian,” said Myers. “Leaders on the cutting edge of technology, volunteering their time and resources in the name of compassion and community.”
