Ontario’s Italpasta awarded $3.4M for new equipment

Feb. 17, 2015 – Agriculture minister Gerry Ritz announced a $3.4-million investment for Italpasta Ltd. to assist in the purchase and installation of pasta packaging and production equipment required for manufacturing macaroni and cheese, and long goods (e.g. spaghetti, linguine and fettuccine).

This investment under the Growing Forward 2 (GF 2) framework will enable the Brampton, Ont., company to become a leader in the production of macaroni and cheese products and provide more retailers with made-in-Canada pasta products, says the government. It is also expected to create eight full-time jobs.

“The expansion of Italpasta Limited will increase demand for inputs sourced from Canadian farmers, improving our producers’ bottom lines and growing our overall economy,” said agriculture minister Gerry Ritz.

“Italpasta has been manufacturing premium pasta for Canadian consumers since the company was founded in 1989 with just 10 staff. With continued market leadership, innovation and a dedicated team, Italpasta has grown to over 220 employees and today boasts sales across North America,” said Joseph Vitale, Italpasta founder.
