May 6, 2015 – Changes are coming to a mill in Swan Valley, Man., thanks to a $95-million investment from The Louisiana-Pacific Corp., based in Nashville, Tenn.

It will convert the strand board facility in Swan Valley into a mill that will produce panel and lap siding for use in homes, businesses and industrial facilities.

This is the company’s first siding mill in Canada — the investment will add about 40 jobs to the existing 160-member workforce at the operation. The changeover will start this summer and is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

Plant manager Kevin Betcher says the decision is “a testament to the people who work here,” noting staff have more than 19 years of experience in manufacturing OSB from a safety, quality, environmental and manufacturing perspective.
