Jul. 14, 2016 – Schneider Electric has won the Technology Company of the Year (50+ employees) award at the 2016 Victoria Innovation Advanced Technology and Entrepreneurship Council (VIATEC) Technology Awards show in Victoria, B.C., an annual awards program that recognizes the achievements of technology companies and individuals in the Greater Victoria area.

“These firms continue to grow but also give back to the community by acting as mentors, advisors and cheerleaders for other up-and-coming tech companies,” said the council in a statement.

This year’s winner, the Schneider Electric Global Power Solutions team, is located within Schneider Electric’s R&D centre for power metering hardware and software in Victoria, B.C. The company was recognized for “its ongoing commitment and hard work in developing innovative power and energy measurement and management solutions” in Canada as well as internationally, said the council.

“Schneider Electric’s offices in Greater Victoria are a shining example of what can be done from our shores,” said Dan Gunn, CEO of VIATEC. “World class companies are being built here, and continue to thrive, grow and contribute to community. Companies such as Schneider Electric have played a significant role in helping us develop one of the world’s strongest tech communities, and we are richer for having them among us.”
