Oct. 3, 2016 – On October 7, the Guelph Chamber of Commerce will recognize National Manufacturing Day with the Guelph Economic Leadership Forum: On Innovation in Manufacturing, where David Paterson, vice-president corporate and environmental affairs at General Motors Canada will be the keynote speaker.

“David Paterson is a leading voice in Canada on innovation,” said Kithio Mwanzia, Guelph Chamber president and CEO. “As General Motors Canada leads the way in innovation in manufacturing, his insights will be valuable for our ever growing manufacturing industry.”

There will also be a moderated Q&A with Lloyd Longfield, MP for Guelph. According to event organizers, the discussion will focus on trends in advanced manufacturing; how manufacturers are standardizing continuous improvement programs across global regional operations; outside-the-box knowledge of practical tools and techniques; and the role of innovation in accelerating advanced manufacturing.

“The sector is an important component of Guelph’s prosperity. Bringing together the manufacturing community — to learn from, share with, and teach each other as well as focus on maximizing our competitive edge — is an important step as we strengthen our community’s position as an economic powerhouse,” said Mwanzia.
