Rittal wins CDCXA Award for data centre facility infrastructure

June 21, 2019 – Rittal Systems Ltd. has won an award for excellence in data centre facility infrastructure at The Great Canadian Data Centre Symposium 2019.

The event was held on June 19-20 at McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton, Ontario. The second annual Great Canadian Data Centre Symposium was designed to connect the Canadian data centre community around the development of best practices that are critical to IT service delivery.

Rittal, also a symposium sponsor, won a Canadian Data Centre Excellence Award (CDCXA) for Data Centre Facility Infrastructure, which spanned three categories: edge deployment, racks and cooling systems.

The CDCXA, in their first year, were established to recognized excellence in the IT industry. The winners represented several months of intensive research, surveys, interviews and evaluations of vendors and end-users’ data centre projects and innovations.

The symposium itself kicked off with a panel of senior executives from technical and business management, academia, and the public sector, as well as Canadian and international thought leaders. Five mainstage panel discussions, each beginning with a brief research-based presentation delivered by industry representatives, addressed critical data centre issues. Breakout sessions allowed for peer-to-peer discussions.

IT solutions suppliers displayed their wares at the event, including Rittal, which showcased its data centre solutions. A tour of McMaster University’s Computing Infrastructure Research Centre (CIRC) facility showed Rittal’s high-density, closed-loop cooling and enclosure systems. This joint project came about as a way for CIRC to capture and maximize efficiencies on the cooling side as well as reduce power consumption.
