A central jobs centre for workers impacted by the Fiat Chrysler layoffs in Windsor, Ont. is opening at Unifor’s location on Turner Rd.

The “action centre” will help up to 800 workers prepare to re-enter the workforce with resume writing and cover letter workshops, job searches and referrals to community resources.

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, Unifor Local 444, FCA Canada Inc. and ZF TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. are responsible for the opening.

The province is investing more than $210,000 in the centre, and industry partners are funding $230,000.

In October, Unifor reached a tentative agreement for FCA to invest $1.5 billion in its Canadian operations that would see 2,000 workers returning to the plant in 2023 to work on hybrid or electric vehicles.
