Linamar Corporation has entered into an exclusive manufacturing and licensing agreement with Michigan-based eMatrix Energy Systems to access its modular battery pack technology. Through this agreement, Linamar has become the exclusive manufacturing partner of eMatrix’s modular battery packs and has exclusive licensing privileges in key markets. Linamar has also invested in eMatrix, taking a minority equity position in the company’s ownership.

Linamar had recently opened its eLIN Product Solutions Group. This new agreement is the company’s first foray into power storage solutions. With Linamar’s existing relationships, infrastructure and expertise, it will be able to scale eMatrix’s product offerings. As per this agreement, Linamar is able to participate as a shareholder and a contract manufacturer with its new partner.

“I am very pleased to be announcing this manufacturing agreement and investment in eMatrix,” said Linda Hasenfratz, Linamar’s CEO. “This partnership is the first major implementation by our eLIN Product Solutions Group and our first expansion into the highly opportunistic power storage segment.”

The pack design of eMatrix’s modular battery pack systems is scalable as per customer needs. The product uses standard battery cells and is controlled with a battery management system that is designed to optimize thermal performance.
