Jun. 3, 2015 - Manufacturing AUTOMATION is pleased to announce it is now offering webinars! In today’s increasingly fast-paced business world, we recognize how difficult it can be to carve out a chunk of your time to attend out-of-office events. Our hope is that with our new webinar series, you will gain insights from industry experts and peers without being limited by a busy schedule and travel expenses.

Our first webinar of the year will be on “Testing Emergency Stop Systems,” scheduled for June 19. SAVE THE DATE for this important safety webinar with Douglas Nix, C.E.T., SM-IEEE!

Most machinery is equipped with an emergency stop, but unlike the automatic guarding systems on those machines, the emergency stop system is rarely used. Large machines and assembly systems may have tens of emergency stop devices scattered over a large area. These devices can fail in ways that can’t be easily detected by automatic diagnostics, if present. Many older machines have no automatic diagnostic functions, making this situation even worse. When these systems fail unexpectedly, the results can be catastrophic.

This FREE webinar will provide attendees with the basis for setting up manual testing of these critical systems, ensuring that they will function when needed. The webinar will touch on requirements from Canadian, U.S. and international standards, and will discuss the functional safety aspects related to testing.

Doug Nix is managing director at Compliance Insight Consulting. He has more than 25 years of engineering technology expertise, though he has focused on risk assessment and machinery safety since 1996.
