Transcontinental acquires B.C.-based Flexstar Packaging

Oct. 24, 2016 – Transcontinental Inc. (known as TC Transcontinental) has acquired all of the shares of Flexstar Packaging, a flexible packaging supplier based in Richmond, B.C.

With more than 120 employees, Flexstar Packaging specializes in converting high barrier film for the cereal, confectionery, snack, frozen food and coffee markets.

“I am proud of this latest acquisition in our strategy to grow our flexible packaging network as it is our first in Canada,” said François Olivier, president and CEO of TC Transcontinental. “Flexstar enables us to extend our footprint to the West Coast, providing us a coast-to-coast platform to better optimize our production.”

Olivier said the move gives Transcontinental new manufacturing capabilities with “film extrusion, a complementary sales force and the ability to generate synergies.”

Describing itself as Canada’s largest printer, TC Transcontinental has operations in print and digital media, flexible packaging and publishing, and more than 8,000 employees throughout North America.

Earlier this year, Transcontinental acquired packaging supplier Robbie Manufacturing, a flexible packaging supplier that specializes in on-site packaging needs for grocery stores, shrink wrap packaging of multipack consumer goods, and packaging solutions for food processors.
