October 24, 2018 – Fujitsu Canada has released the ScanSnap iX1500, a colour duplex model document scanner that joins the company’s ScanSnap scanner series.

The ScanSnap series converts most office documents into PDFs, searchable PDFs, Word and Excel documents. Users operate the iX1500 on the 4.3-inch colour touch screen, tucked away under a soft-close lid that when opened powers on the device.

The user can stack different sizes of paper, including business cards, into the feeder tray in one group and ScanSnap will automatically detect page size, colour, blank pages and page orientation, scanning 30 sheets per minute in colour-duplex mode with a 50-page hopper capacity. The device scans long receipts that tend to curl, and cleans streaked images without the need for rescanning.

The images are automatically cropped to size and imported into the SnapSnap software, which includes Optical Character Recognition functionality to allow users to create searchable PDFs, or convert scanned documents into editable files. The iX1500 automatically names and suggests titles for scanned files based on content and preset naming conventions. Suggestion accuracy is improved the more titles are repeatedly edited, allowing users to avoid spending time on repetitive corrections. Edits made to company names attributed to scanned business cards are reflected on successive scans with the same attributed company.

Up to 30 preconfigured profiles can be made, optimized for each user’s workflow. A single unit can also be shared among multiple users in an office, and identified by different icon colours, saving information to specific destinations based on individual user preference.

The iX1500 can also be configured to use ScanSnap Cloud. Without needing a computer or mobile device, the user can scan directly to the cloud, which is used as a conduit to cloud storage services such as Google Drive or Dropbox.
