Rethink Robotics debuts Intera 5 software to coordinate work cell

May 6, 2017 – Rethink Robotics is announcing Intera 5, describing it as a first-of-its-kind software platform that allows manufacturers to coordinate an entire work cell from a single robot, as well as orchestrate the work cell and collect data.

The company says Intera 5 changes the need for integration by removing the need for traditional programmable logic controller (PLC) technology while allowing users to “deploy full work cell automation in a matter of hours.” “Intera 5 is driving immediate value while helping customers work toward a smart factory, and providing a gateway to successful industrial internet of things (IIoT) for the first time,” said Scott Eckert, president and CEO, Rethink Robotics. The software is now available for download on all existing Sawyer robots, and will come standard on all new robots.
