Infrared temperature calibrator

January 19, 2009
By Alyssa Dalton

The REED infrared temperature calibrator (Model BX-500) is designed for calibrating non-contact infrared thermometers up to 500 degrees C. The calibrator features temperature-controlled black-body target with a diameter of 57 mm. It offers a wide field of view to compensate for optical variations in
individual infrared thermometers. To use, set the desired temperature in increments of 0.1 degrees, wait for the calibrator to attain equilibrium, point the infrared thermometer at the target, and measure the radiated energy. The contact RTD reference well is located directly behind the black-body target to assure even higher accuracies of ±0.1 degree C.
